MS. MAMIE MATHIS, daughter of the late Mr. Cecil Farley, Sr and the late Ms. Ethel Williams Wright was born March 30, 1932, in Eatonton, Georgia. Having lived a happy and joyful life, she transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home on May 22, 2022.
Sis, as she was so affectionately called by her loving family, was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunt. She received her education from Putnam County Schools in Eatonton, Georgia and worked most of her adult life at manufacturing facilities in Lincolnton, NC. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as she loved the Lord wholeheartedly and taught her family to do the same. Although Mamie was a woman of few words with a sweet and simple demeanor, she was quite the entertainer around her family with her loving smile and joyous laughter. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday at her home with her family.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Mathis, and 7 brothers, Cecil Farley Jr., Willie Farley, Sam Farley, Wiley Farley, Sr, Charlie Farley, Leroy Farley, Sr, and Joe Wright.
Cherished memories will linger in the hearts of her brother, Albert Farley, Sr (Louvenia) of Eatonton, Georgia ; her three (3) daughters, Mamie “Sug” (Dale) Williams of Haddock, Georgia; Mattie “Bey Bey” Mathis of Haddock, Georgia; Joann Monroe “Lil Sister” of Gastonia, North Carolina; two (2) sons, Charlie “Lil Charlie” Mathis, Jr. of Eatonton, Georgia Nathaniel ”Nay” Mathis of Gray, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
Graveside Services will be held at Countyline Primitive Baptist Church, 120 Neriah Road NW, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061 on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 12:00 PM. The officiating clergy will be Bishop Jimmie L. Floyd. Visitation will take place at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 6-8PM. Funeral Services are entrusted to Putnam Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 105 Agnes Street, Eatonton, GA. Harry Stafford Funeral Director.
