Polly Ann James

Polly Ann James was born on October 7, 1939, in Eatonton, Georgia to the parentage of Emma Lillie James and Steve Humphries who both preceded her in death. Our beloved Polly departed this earthly life on March 23, 2023.

 Polly received her education in Putnam County at Butler Baker School. She was a faithful servant and dedicated User of Free Gift Baptist Church until her health begin to decline. Polly loved her family and church with all her heart.

Polly had a great love for flowers and gardening. Her front porch was her place of peace. She enjoyed sitting there for hours watching the cars go by and her neighbors across the street enjoy themselves.  Polly had many different occupations over the years. She was recently employed with Walmart Store 5482 in Eatonton, Georgia until her health begin to decline. She also worked cleaning houses, DENON Digital Manufactory, and Eatonton Manufactory for many years. During her years of work, she met many people who fell in love with her kind heart and loving sprit where many referred to her as “Ma Polly”.

Eight siblings preceded her in death.

Wonderful memories of Polly will live on through her three loving and devoted children:  Willie Frank (Audrey) James, Linda (Tracy) Greene, Lamar (Frankie) James; four loving grandchildren: LaTasha James, Travias Greene, Zse’reca Miller, Kene James; three awesome great-grandchildren: Zelle Francois, Greyson Miller, Lincoln Miller; One loving sister left to cherish her memories, Lillie Shinholster of Milledgeville, Georgia;  devoted niece, Bernice Menefee, and nephew Cheyenne (Beverly) James; a host of other nephews and nieces whom she treated and loved as her own; a devoted neighbor who cared for her during her brief illness, Patricia Smith; Loving and devoted friends: Veronica Crawford, Shernardecus Lawrence, and a community of people who truly loved her. Our beloved Polly will truly be missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 202,3 11:00 AM at The Free Gift Baptist Church, 235 Scuffleboro Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024 where the Reverend Roderick Bradford will officiate and the Reverend J. L. Nunnally will deliver the Eulogy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, 4:00PM - 6:00PM at Putnam Memorial Funeral Home
